Sir Richard Arkwright (1732-1792) was an inventor and entrepreneur and is considered one of the "Fathers of Modern Industrialisation".
He established cotton mills at Wirksworth (now called Haarlem Mill) and at Cromford, part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
