About us
Hello and welcome to our home.
We are Paul and Jo, Freya and Bracken (our very friendly springador). Paul and I have lived and worked in and around Wirksworth for well over a decade and in 2022 we finally realised our long-held dream of buying a house with land in the area and started our journey towards owning a glamping site. ​
Since then we have been working hard to renovate the house and gardens, negotiate planning applications, become new business owners, manage and physically build two projects (house and business) and have experienced a much steeper learning curve than we ever expected!

About The Outside-Inn Wirksworth
The idea for the name "The Outside-Inn" originates from the history of our house and land, which together with The Malt Shovel Inn just down the road, was known as "Malt Shovel Farm". The farm was separated into smaller holdings many years ago and the Malt Shovel Inn, although still a public house, serving meals and drinks, no longer provides a place to stay.

The lodges are situated within a cutting across the hillside that lowers the foundation level, meaning the lodges are immersed in the landscape and visitors can enjoy the view opening out in front of them.

We consider our lodges to be "next-level" glamping - the lodges and site as a whole have been designed to provide guests with all the comforts of modern living, including luxurious king-sized beds, spacious ensuite shower rooms, complimentary WiFi and private alfresco dining, while enjoying the beautiful scenery and nature of the English countryside from inn-side and out.
